Get your girl some flowers
Valentines Day is a special time of year when you let your loved ones know just how much you care about them. It is a great opportunity to treat them to something extra special and everyone loves a romantic gesture, no matter how small. So it’s time to think about valentines gifts that will show you have gone the extra mile and put some thought into a gift that will be truly appreciated. A thoughtful gift on Valentines Day does not necessarily mean spending a lot of money; it should just demonstrate that you have taken the time to get something personal.
Traditional gifts are still popular for valentines day gifts; after all they have only become traditional due to their popularity in the first place. Chocolates, flowers, perfume and romantic meals (even home cooked ones) are all thoughtful valentines gifts. Just push the boat out a bit more at this romantic time of year and go for the higher end luxury market when to comes to choosing food, wine, flowers and perfume. After all you don’t exchange these items regularly so when you do make sure they are special.
Maybe you have a less than traditional partner who may not appreciate these traditional gifts and you will have to think a little harder for a gift that will be appreciated. You could do some research and find a unique gift that is more personal to them and related to any special interests they might have, for example sports enthusiasts would love some top end equipment or music enthusiasts might like some old vinyl record of their favorite albums.
If you have a partner with particular interests or who collects things, there will often be items they crave that they may consider extravagant and would not purchase for themselves. What better way to really spoil your loved one than by treating them to those items, adding to their collection with a rare item, or updating hobby items or equipment with the best product on the market. The main thing is to show that some thought has gone into the gift, no matter what it cost.
Men, as well as women can have a penchant for designer clothing and accessories, although it usually women who have a particular fondness for high end brands, especially in shoes and handbags. If you know your loved one well you may know of a designer item they would love to own, but may not consider spending the money on themselves. Pay special attention to them if you are out shopping or they see an item in a magazine they may helpfully point out to you, it could be a hint!
Think about a gift with longevity, classic items like bags or scarves that are considered investment pieces. These will be treasured for many years and used for a lifetime instead of items that are only likely to be a passing fad or last a season at best.
Of course you may be thinking about the ultimate valentines gift and presenting an engagement ring. If proposing is a surprise you will need to be confident in your ability to choose a ring which is to your partners taste. Or if you are purchasing jewellery in general check out your partners current collection to get a feel for the type of pieces they like. Even better take one of her friends with you as they may have a better idea than you!
Whatever you choose for valentines gifts, putting a little extra effort in will be the difference between an impersonal and throw away gift and a gift with ‘wow factor’ that will surely earn brownie points for the rest of the year! The only problem is how to top it the next year!
